This week's location is all about fishing near Motukahaua Island and Great Barrier Island...

Spot 1: 36°38.988S, 175°22.051E Motukaraka Island - we're hearing great results coming from this spot. Great spot to catch good sized snapper for dinner.



Spot 2: 36°00.399S, 175°07.183E Simpson Rock - Grab your jigging set and head here to spend a bit of time hunting down those spring kings.



21st October 2013

This week's location is all about fishing near Wattle Bay and Owhanake Island...

Spot 1: 37°02.140'S, 174°34.181'E The spot by the number 4 bouy is ideal for Snapper but bringing lots of berley is also recommended; Mullet is a good choice to use here.



Spot 2: 36°46.120'S, 174°58.996'E Try your luck drifting through the Motuihe and Motukorea channel as we've heard good reports close in.



7th October 2013

This week's location is all about fishing near Whangarei and Motiti Island...

Spot 1: 35°53.860'S, 175°03.274'E You'll find Grouper Island west of the Mokohinau island. This is an awesome spot for Hapuka and Kingfish.



Spot 2: 37°38.842'S, 176°24.898'E Grab your dive gear and shoot out to Motiti Island. You'll find scallops and cray here.



30th September 2013

This week's location is all about fishing near Motuihe Island and Tauranga...

Spot 1: 36°48.618'S, 174°58.392'E Crusoe Rock has seen some great fishing lately. Live bait for kingies is a great option here too.



Spot 2: 37°32.146'S, 176°25.603'E Try out your jigging set at Astrolabe Reef. Big snapper have been known to take jigs.



23rd September 2013

This week's location is all about fishing near Firth of Thames and Coppermine Island...

Spot 1: 36°50.457'S 175°23.915'E Just SE of Te Kouma is a great spot for Snapper with a good chance of Kingfish action on a livie.



Spot 2: 5°52.932'S 174°47.225'E Go to Bream Bay, along the 30m mark, and keep an eye out for bird or surface activity.



16th September 2013

This week's location is all about fishing near Moanarua Island and Motuora Island...

Spot 1: 35°20.612'S, 174°23.729'E The Danger Rock is a fantastic place to dive and to put a cray or two on your plate.



Spot 2: 36°29.435'S, 174°49.491'E The NE of Motuora is a great spot to grab a Snapper. Also keep an eye out for work up in the area.



9th September 2013

This week's location is all about fishing near Urupukapuka Island and Waimate Island...

Spot 1: 35°13.412'S, 174°14.569'E The Albert Channel is a great spot for beginners to start out the scallop season. There are often plenty of scallops found here. Depth is around 12m.



Spot 2: 36°45.455'S, 175°24.331'E Scallops are found at the base approximately 18m down of the Waimate Reef. If you work your way back up through the kelp and rocks, you can find crayfish here too.



26th August 2013

This week's location is all about fishing near Mauitaha Island and Cecilia Sudden Bay...

Spot 1: 35°50.147'S, 174°36.130'E Target Bream Rock with your jig set as kingfish and large snapper are around.



Spot 2: 36°20.183'S, 175°28.621'E You don't have to go far to find snapper at Cecilia Sudden Bay. Plenty of burley and pilchards are best here at the moment.



19th August 2013

This week's location is all about fishing near Tauranga and Kawau Bay...

Spot 1: 37°31.269'S, 176°19.045'E Pudney Rock is a great spot to find snapper and kingfish. Tarakihi are often found here too. Take your speed jigging gear and try jigging over the pin on high tide.



Spot 2: 36°25.054'S, 174°47.700'E Shot out to Rabbit Island to pick up a mid-winter snapper for dinner. Bait is working best at the moment and don't forget your burley too.



5th August 2013

This week's location is all about fishing near Stephens Island and Rakino Island...

Spot 1: 40°41.314'S, 173°58.099'E Marlborough Sounds is a great spot to try if you want a few Kingfish. Live baiting under a baloon normally does the trick.



Spot 2: 36°42.731'S, 174°59.516'E The rock behind Rakino Island holds snapper year round so take some berley out with you and strayline into it. Make sure you put pressure on the fish early to prevent them from taking you to the kept.

Spot 1: 36°33.762'S, 175°47.985'E Behind Great Mercury Island - Winter is a great time to target Hapuka. So this week we have decided to dedicate both GPS locations to Hapuka.

22nd July 2013

This week's location is all about fishing near Te Waite Bay and Kawau Island...

Spot 1: 35°37.144'S, 174°32.904'E Take a dive at Te Waita Bay and keep your eyes open for crayfish. Bring your rod and some bait as snapper are often around too.



Spot 2: 36°26.254'S, 174°53.468'E Just out the back of Kawau Island you'll find Nelson Rock. This spot has never let us down even on hard days fishing.



15th July 2013

This week's location is all about fishing near Opito Bay and Bream Bay...

Spot 1: 36°41.231'S, 175°50.925'E NW of Black Rocks is known to hold kingfish. Take your jigging gear and drop over this pin.



Spot 2: 35°58.374'S, 174°42.415'E Try your luck at the Taranga Island. It's known to hold snapper all year round and is best when using a strayline set-up.



8th July 2013

This week's location is all about fishing near Great Barrier Island and Kerkeri Inlet...

Spot 1: 36°22.779'S, 175°28.415'E The Colville Channel, out at the 50m mark, is great for good-sized snapper. Make sure to look out for work-ups!



Spot 2: 35°11.907'S, 174°03.848'E Just on the outskirts of Keri Keri Inlet is a fantastic spot for catching snapper and john dory. Best to try this spot on an outgoing tide to maximise your results.



1st July 2013

This week's location is all about fishing near Woodhill Forest and Great Mercury Island...

Spot 1: 36°35.910'S, 174°15.726'E You will require a 4x4 to reach Fifteen Mile. Using cut bait is best here. Mullet, bonito and squid are best. Be careful of your surroundings as some people have lost their cars to the tides.



Spot 2: 36°34.197'S, 175°47.649'E Never Fail Reef is a great spot to fish and dive. Often found here are crayfish, snapper and kingfish.



24th June 2013

This week's location is all about fishing near Whakatane and Urupukapuka Island...

Spot 1: 37°33.232S, 177°09.567E South of White Island - try your luck for Blue Nose at this spot. Depths range from 190M to 280M. A high speed reel is recommended here.

17th June 2013

This week's location is all about fishing near Whangaparaoa and Opopo Bay...

Spot 1: 36°36.355S, 174°55.205E Shearer Rock - We have heard of some good sized snapper being caught here. Burley and pilchards have been working the best.



Spot 2: 36°47.145S, 175°10.399E Just out from Opopo Bay - Softbaits have produced some nice pan size snapper here. There are a lot of kahawai out at the moment as well.



10th June 2013

This week's location is all about fishing near Langs Beach and Papakohatu Island...

Spot 1: 36°02.661'S, 174°33.660'E Langs Beach is an awesome spot for land based fishing. Take a couple of burley bombs and your favourite bait.



Spot 2: 36°49.084'S, 174°58.558'E Straylining whole baits in the Papakohatu Island is your best bet to landing some good size snapper. Try a livebait for a chance at a kingfish too.



27th May 2013

This week's location is all about fishing near Moturua Island and Whangaparaoa Peninsula...

Spot 1: 335°10.119'S, 174°09.312'E The 50m mark out from Howe Point has been known to have hapuku and large snapper around. It's exposed so wait for good weather before attempting this spot.



Spot 2: 37°27.720'S, 175°59.371'EGurnard is the fish to target here. Grab yourself a couple of burley bombs and head to Ocean beach to grab yourself this very nice eating fish.



20th May 2013

This week's location is all about fishing near bay of Islands and Whangaparaoa Peninsula...

Spot 1: 335°10.119'S, 174°09.312'E The 50m mark out from Howe Point has been known to have hapuku and large snapper around. It's exposed so wait for good weather before attempting this spot.



Spot 2: 36°35.845'S, 174°50.782'E Most boaties drive straight past the Whangaparaoa Peninsula to go to Tiritiri Matangi Island. They often skip this spot and as a result we've done very well here in the past.



13th May 2013

This week's location is all about fishing near Browns Bay and Waimangaroa Point...

Spot 1: 36°42.760'S, 174°45.876'E We've heard about some great results coming from the Browns Bay area. Both cut and soft baits have been very productive in the 4-7 metre mark.



Spot 2: 35°18.688'S, 174°07.290'E The Waimangaroa Point is known to produce snapper and kingfish from time to time. Try softbaiting and it may result in a john dori.



6th May 2013

This week's location is all about fishing near Big Sea Bay and Musick Point...

Spot 1: 37°01.289'S, 174°36.848'E Often seen around the Cornwallis Bay are kingfish and snapper. If you dive this spot you can get a good amount of scallops. But be careful of the strong currents. Never dive alone here.



Spot 2: 36°50.708'S, 174°.54.250'E Best time to fish the Musick Point is in the evening using cut bait with a good berley trail.



29th April 2013

This week's location is all about fishing near Hamilton and New Plymouth...

Spot 1: 37°58.050'S, 174°33.891'E Burley is key at Gannet. Take along cut baits for best results. Be sure to ask locals about the bar before you cross



Spot 2: 39°02.850'S, 174°02.800'E Squid is a good choice to take at the New Plymouth Harbour Mouth. Bottom berley is also a good option here. As well as snapper, blue cod, gurnard and kahawai.



22nd April 2013

This week's location is all about fishing near Motuketekete Island and Pohutukawa Bay...

Spot 1: 36°28.176'S, 174°48.956'E Motuketekete Island is one of our favourite spots. We always get good size snapper here and have seen the odd crayfish when diving.



Spot 2: 36°50.815'S, 175°09.268'E Take your softbait gear with you on your trip to Sunday Rock as this is a top spot for John Dory.



15th April 2013

This week's location is all about fishing near Port Gore and Wenderholm Park...

Spot 1: 41°02.899'S 174°12.207'E The shipwreck Mikhail Lermontor is an awesome spot to dive. Take your camera and get some great shots.



Spot 2: 36°32.033'S 174°43.766'E Take your surfcaster to the Mahurangi Regional Reserve spot and fish with piper or pilchards. Be sure to use fishing floats to keep your bait off the bottom to avoid snags.



8th April 2013

This week's location is all about fishing near Napier and Cape Jackson...

Spot 1: 39°30.600'S, 177°49.280'E Using Bonito has produced good results at the Lachlan Ridge. Best used in low winds as it can be exposed. Be sure to use your finder to locate the fish near the edge.



Spot 2: 40°58.994'S, 174°20.020'E Squid on ledger rigs is a sure catch at Cape Jackson. Most common fish found here is Blue cod.



1st April 2013

This week's location is all about fishing near Kawau Island and Great Mercury Island...

Spot 1: 36°27.032'S, 174°50.500'E Kawau Island is a personal favourite to get crayfish. You can also strayline big bits of cut bait and see good results.



Spot 2: 36°37.735'S, 175°53.961'E Mercury Island has been known to produce big snapper and kingfish. Softbait and cut bait are sure to get you some dinner.



25th March 2013

This week's location is all about fishing near Little Dog Island and Motutapu Island...

Spot 1: 46°39.355'S, 168°24.951'E Dog Island is great for diving because Crays are often found here at good sizes. Dive only in calm weather as the current can be very strong.



Spot 2: 36°41.143'S, 175°01.813'E The Back of Ahaaha Rocks is a great spearfishing spot. You'll find most target fish here from butterfish to kingfish. Be sure to put this one on the list.



18th March 2013

This week's location is all about fishing near Little Barrier Island and Big Bay...

Spot 1: 36°14.557'S, 175°11.408'E The spot beside Horn Rock produces some very good Snapper, especially during the spring months. It's a perfect place to use slow jigs while drifting.



Spot 2: 37°02.035'S, 174°39.602'E Manukau Harbour, Number 4 buoy, is another excellent spot for Snapper fishing. You may also pick up an odd Kingfish or Kahawai.



11th March 2013

This week's location is all about fishing near Hawkes Bay and Karikari Peninsula...

Spot 1: 39°18.925'S, 177°56.958'E This spot just on the way into the Hawkes Bay can hold some good rewards. Snapper, Trevally and even Blue Cod showing up. Be sure to take some softbait with you.



Spot 2: 34°48.723'S, 173°23.740'E Just off Karikari peninsula, this spot can produce some very good Kingfish. Both jigging and live baiting will do very well here.



4th March 2013

This week's location is all about fishing near Kaikuku Bay and Hauraki Gulf...

Spot 1: 36°50.500'S, 175°03.555'E Just out from Kaikuku Bay is an awesome spot for the start of March. We've seen good numbers here. Also a great spot for Spearo's to follow the coast line. Known fish to be in the area are Snapper, Kingfish, John Dori, & Butterfish.



Spot 2: 36°37.535'S, 175°26.078'E If you're looking for Kahawai then the Te Whau Point is a must-visit spot. You may get the odd Kingfish here too..



25th February 2013

This week's location is all about fishing near Bream Bay and Bay of Islands...

Spot 1: 35°50.352'S, 174°50.267'E West Bastion Reef is a great spot to paddle out to on your kayak. Cut bait works best here with some burley, but soft bait has also seen good results.



Spot 2: 35°11.889'S, 174°08.570'E Just out from Moturoa Island, this spot is great for big snapper. Catch some live bait on the way and put them out because kingfish are here too.



18th February 2013

This week's location is all about fishing near Dairy Bay and Lake Pupuke...

Spot 1: 36°30.301'S, 174°44.058'E Sadler Point is a great area for catching kingfish as there's always a lot of bait fish running past. Good pan size snapper are often caught here too.



Spot 2: Lake Pupuke For fresh water fishing try Hospital Jetty or Henderson Park Bay for some fresh Rainbow Trout. These average around 1kg and you're allowed to take 5 fish per day at a minimum of 300mm. Jigging and harling works best but you can also try spinning and fly fishing from an anchored boat.

This week's location is all about fishing near Kauri Point and Mission Bay...

Spot 1: 36°49.645S, 174°42.665E Kauri Point is well known for its pan size snapper and is an awesome spot to check out if you want to do a quick trip after work.



Spot 2: 36°50.456S, 174°50.145E Torpedo Wharf is great for land-based fishing and has often seen Kingfish swimming by.



28th January 2013

This week's location is all about fishing near Mayor Island and Great Mercury Island...

Spot 1: 37°18.303S, 176°17.205E Mayor Island Kingfish - solid live baiting and spear fishing spot.



Spot 2: 36°31.322S, 175°53.685E Impressive rise coming up from over 100m to 70m. Almost every fish species lurks here.



14th January 2013

This week's location is all about fishing near Browns Island and Okokewa Island...

Spot 1: 36°49.737'S, 174°54.160'E This spot on the eastern side of Browns Islands produces some awesome Snapper fishing around this time of year. Early morning is always the best before the rest of Auckland gets on the water. Pump the burley and reap the rewards.



Spot 2: 36°08.564'S, 175°18.054'E Just outside of Port Abercrombie this rise is excellent for jigging for Kingfish. Offering great shelter from the westerlies it can also produce some very nice Great Barrier sized 'pannies'.



31st December 2012

This week's location is all about fishing near Smugglers Bay and Tiritiri Matangi Island...

Spot 1: 35°51.567'S, 174°31.524'E This Buoy at the entrance to the Whangarei harbour is a prime spot to target Kingfish with poppers. Every year a lot of Kingfish fall victim around this area so this is always a good place to try. If there are a lot of boats fishing it, try another buoy in the area.



Spot 2: 36°36.506'S, 174°55.335'E Shearer's Buoy by Tiri Tiri Matangi is another great place to cast poppers for Kingfish. This area has been having some phenomenal top-water action lately and being so close to Auckland it's hard to beat.



24th December 2012

This week's location is all about fishing near Cape Maria Van Diemen and Te Kouma Harbour...

Spot 1: 34°29.186'S, 172°28.718'E This remote spot off Cape Maria Van Diemen is home to very big Hapuka and Bass. Livies work wonders here as do fresh slabs of bonito. Best fished with a good weather window as it can quickly get messy.



Spot 2: 36°49.654'S, 175°26.982'E Te Kouma Harbour is a great place to try for some flounder this summer. Use the low tides to either drag or set nets and gigging in the evening can produce good results. Early morning missions can be very exciting here as Kingfish can be seen chasing the flounder right up into the shallows.



17th December 2012

This week's location is all about fishing near Whangamata and Waiheke Island...

Spot 1: 37°15.630'S, 176°18.874'E This deep water rise off the back of Mayor Island will be a great place to jig for Kingfish this summer. Don't be afraid to look around the area with your sounder as though, Hapuka and Bluenose are often a welcome by-catch in this area.



Spot 2: 36°46.456'S, 175°13.376'E Off the back end of Waiheke, this pin can produce large Hauraki Gulf Kingfish on the early morning bite time. Live bait is best. Freakishly large John Dory have also been caught here.



10th December 2012

This week's location is all about fishing near Cavalli Islands and Waitemata Harbour...

Spot 1: 35°01.302'S, 173°56.709'E Located in the Cavalli Islands this hole can hold a lot Snapper, especially during summer months. Drifting with softbatis produces the best results.



Spot 2: 36°50.562'S, 174°42.508'E This location up the Waitemata Harbour, in front of Pt Chevalier is an awesome place to try for Flounder at low tide.



3rd December 2012

This week's location is all about fishing near Hauraki Gulf and Anapai Bay...

Spot 1: 36°45.727'S, 174°56.843'E This hole at the back of Motutapu can produce some very good fishing on the outgoing tide. Provides a lot of shelter from any Westerly winds. Both soft bait and bait do the damage here.



Spot 2: 40°48.376'S, 173°00.840'E Anapai Bay in the Golden Bay area is a great place to target Kingfish over the summer months. Change of light is best, early bird gets the worm.



26th November 2012

This week's location is all about fishing near Little Barrier Island and Pegasus Bay...

Spot 1: 36°10.987'S, 175°03.016'E Te Hue Point on Little Barrier is a great place to target big Snapper before Christmas. Stay in close and use lots of berley.



Spot 2: 43°00.851'S, 173°12.889'E On the northern limits of Canterbury's Pegasus Bay this area is known to produce Albacore Tuna during the warmer months. Trolling feathered lures are the best bet along the deep contours.



19th November 2012

This week's location is all about fishing near Little Barrier Island and Pegasus Bay...

Spot 1: 36°10.987'S, 175°03.016'E Te Hue Point on Little Barrier is a great place to target big Snapper before Christmas. Stay in close and use lots of berley.



Spot 2: 43°00.851'S, 173°12.889'E On the northern limits of Canterbury's Pegasus Bay this area is known to produce Albacore Tuna during the warmer months. Trolling feathered lures are the best bet along the deep contours.



12th November 2012

This week's location is all about fishing near Port Charles and Manukau...

Spot 1: 36°30.395'S, 175°29.511'E Close to Port Charles on the Coromandel, this drop off is well known for Big Snapper. Large baits are the best bet here and don't be surprised if there is the odd bycatch of Kingfish or Trevally.



Spot 2: 37°01.473'S, 174°34.699'E Alongside the Huia bank here in the Manukau you can often find good patches of schooling Trevally. Use light gear for an even better battle!



5th November 2012

This week's location is all about fishing near Waitata Bay and Gisborne...

Spot 1: 40°58.192'S, 173°55.347'E Expect Snapper to start filling this bay located in the Marlborough Sounds over the next month. Over summertime drifting through this bay can produce some of the best Snapper fishing in the area. Try target the incoming tides.



Spot 2: 38°43.201'S, 178°18.054'E Ariel Rocks, located out of Gisbourne is a great place to target large fish during the summer months with everything from large Snapper to Kingfish and Tuna frequently visiting this spot.



29th October 2012

This week's location is all about fishing near Tiritiri Matangi Island and Waitangi...

Spot 1: 36°34.930'S, 174°52.073'E This area at this time of year can play home to some very intense and successful work ups. This is more a general location rather than a specific spot, but is a very good place to start looking for work ups without going too far out.



Spot 2: 35°15.890'S, 174°05.522'E They say you should always fish your feet first and there is no better example than this little rock sitting in the inner Bay of Islands. Several boats motor past it during the summer months to get out to deeper water and quite often drive over the fish. Also a great spot if the weather is a bit foul.



22nd October 2012

This week's location is all about fishing near Fantail Bay and Matakana Island...

Spot 1: 36'31.562'S, 175'19.337'E On the western side of the Coromandel, just up from Colville Bay lies this rocky reef structure. Find the reef on your sounder, do a dummy drift then repeat so you drift directly over this reef. Using soft baits this can be a phenomenal spot in close and will provide good shelter in a strong easterly.



Spot 2: 37'31.549'S, 176'07.769'E This small island in front of Matakana Island in the Bay of Plenty is a primo Snapper spot. Whether you are targeting Snapper or Kingfish, both can be found here!



15th October 2012

This week's location is all about fishing near Moturoa Island and Jackson Bay...

Spot 1: 34'46.255'S, 173'20.741'E Moturoa Island just off Cape Karikari can play host to some phenomenal diving. With big schools of fish life all around, everything from Maomao to Kingfish can pop up here. Obviously there are Crays to be found and also some cool caves to explore if you are feeling adventurous.



Spot 2: 43'53.716'S, 168'37.118'E Tuna, Marlin, Kingfish and Groper can all be caught along this trench line. South of Haast the best months for this spot are November to April but this deep water shelf can produce some scarily big fish. Trolling live baits and lures can do some damage, come prepared and be ready to hold on!



8th October 2012

This week's location is all about fishing near Otago Harbour and Tawharanui Peninsula...

Spot 1: 45'48.418'S, 170'45.346'E This spot just outside the Otago Harbour is home to a lot of resident Blue Cod. Rather exposed in westerly winds your best bet here is to use flasher rigs!



Spot 2: 36'22.944'S, 174'51.360'E Maori Rock. Trolling Rapala lures around this structure in the upcoming months will produce some nice Kingfish. It's best on the northern side closer to the Tawharanui Peninsula. If the Kingfish aren't there this northern channel is the perfect place to drift for Snapper on an outgoing tide. Soft baits work wonders!



1st October 2012

This week's location is all about fishing near Patio Bay and Whangamumu...

Spot 1: 36'50.174'S, 175'09.479'E It may be no secret but the Waiheke Channel produces a lot of fish in summer. Best at the change of light, look for birds and drift soft baits for best results.



Spot 2: 35'11.115'S, 174'15.469'E This reef in the Bay of Islands is a great spot for targeting Kingfish all year round. Live baiting on ledger rigs give great results here. You never know, you may even pick up the occasional Hapuka.



24th September 2012

This week's location is all about fishing near Fitzroy Bay and Little Barrier Island...

Spot 1: 41'24.219'S, 174'51.512'E Arabella Rock, located just outside of Wellington Harbour can be a great spot to pick up Kingfish in the summer months. Drifting live baits are the best method of attack here.



Spot 2: 36'14.557'S, 175'11.408'E This spot beside outside Horn Rock produces some very good Snapper, especially during the spring months. This is a perfect place to use slow jigs whilst drifting.



17th September 2012

This week's location is all about fishing near Motuihe and East Island...

Spot 1: 36'48.843'S, 174'55.482'E The Motuihe Hole will start holding good amounts of fish from now ony. Can be a very fast current so either anchor up or be sure to use a sea anchor if soft baiting or slow jigging. Definitely an easy place to get a feed.

Spot 1: 36'29.778'S, 174'48.131'E This pinnacle on the northern side of Motuora island can hold some very good Snapper in the spring. However be prepared as the odd Kingfish is known to patrol this area.



Spot 2: 41'04.100'S, 174'36.150'E Located in the Cook Straight of the Makara Coast this spot is very exposed, so take care as the weather can change quickly. However, should you be able to fish it, expect big groper along sharp drop-offs.

Spot 1: 34'52.185'S, 173'15.158'E Just outside of Rangaunu Harbour there's a spot of foul ground here that runs at variable depth. Great place to catch a feed of Snapper that are of good size!



Spot 2: 37'38.524'S, 176'09.953'E Here you'll find a hole situated in the middle of the Tauranga Harbour. Over summer and late spring drifting over this hole can produce a lot of good snapper on soft baits.

Spot 1: 37'12.200'S, 175'58.289'E This little bank out of Whangamata can be littered with Tarakihi around this time of year. Always worth a fish as good Snapper can be found here too.



Spot 2: 40'59.211'S, 174'21.088'E This spot just outside Queen Charlotte Sound holds some very good Hapuka from time to time. Drift over it using heavy 24kg tackle and lumo beads of best results.

Spot 1: 36'01.123'S, 175'25.853'E Great Barrier Hapuka! This bank to the NE of the needles is notorious for producing good sized Puka time and time again and there isn't a better time of year than to fish it now.



Spot 2: 36'48.110'S, 175'13.279'E This spot around Waiheke and surrounding southern islands can provide some awesome structure with drop-offs, banks and rises all over the show. Team that up with some pretty solid current and it's a Snappers heaven.

Spot 2: 36'47.971'S, 175'46.283'E Sitting in the middle of Mercury Bay is centre island and it is often loaded with all sorts of baitfish. Make sure you grab yourself some before you head off in pursuit of big Coromandel Kingfish.

Spot 1: 35'09.542'S, 173'05.556'E This spot in Ahipara bay along Tauroa Point is a great place to pull some larger Snapper out of reasonably shallow water. Drift down the ledge slowly getting deeper for the best results.



Spot 2: 37'34.536'S, 176'22.618'E Just out of Tauranga this spot fishes incredibly well this time of year. Check your sounder and berley up with the trail going down to the drop off. A wide variety of fish available here.

This week's location is all about fishing near Moturua Island and Okuta Bay...

Spot 1: 39'02.904'S, 174'01.342'E This small raised reef just outside of New Plymouth is a favourite hangout spot for Snapper. Drift over it several times using either straylined baits or soft baits and you are sure to pick up some good fish.



Spot 2: 38'43.633'S, 175'58.763'E Situated on the northern side of Lake Taupo this spot fishes well all year round. Simply find small pinnacles and reefs on your sounder and drift over them. In close you can fish very well here.

Spot 1: 42'45.426'S, 173'33.950'E Located off the Canterbury coastline, this pinnacle fishes well all year round and can produce some particularly big fish this time of year. What type of fish? Well, it's not called Groper Pinnacle for no reason.



Spot 2: 36'42.731'S, 174'59.516'E Auckland's Zeno rock is a great place to target large XOS winter snapper without having to travel too far. Best in a NW wind this spot is perfect when using large paddle tail softbaits to entice those big snapper.

Spot 1: 34'24.811'S, 173'02.930'E This small island along the North Cape is home to some moocher Snapper. A lot of current runs here so be sure to pack your drogue. Kingfish are also common here year round, after all it's the winter-less north.



Spot 2: 37;22.432'S, 175'56.555'E Just above Waihi this spear fishing spot is fantastic whether you are a beginner or a seasoned pro. This spot is normally loaded with a lot of bait fish, so Kingfish are never far away. Remain locked and loaded as your best catch maybe closer than you think.

Spot 1: 36'53.882'S, 176'04.482'E Known as the Northern Sugar Loaf, this rock rises from 63m up to 27m and sits just north of the Aldermen Islands. This is a great spot to target Hapuka, however should only really be fished in light winds.



Spot 2: 36'35.715'S, 174;50.657'E Situated on the northern end of the Whangaparaoa head is Huaroa Point. This location fishes very well year round and is a great spot for stray-lining, however notable Snapper have been pulled out of this location on soft bait as well.

This week's location is all about fishing near Te Karo Bay and Bream Bay...

Spot 1: 36'57.756'S, 175'50.568'E To get to this rather remote surfcasting spot take Sailors Grave Rod just north of Tairua. This is a very sandy beach that has the odd rocky outcrop, casting baits next to these rocks during the evening in winter will produce some very good Snapper fishing.



Spot 2: 36'00.044'S, 174'41.878'E Sail Rock in the Bream Bay is still holding a good amount of Kingfish. The last solid run will be over the next month or so. So catch some livies, grab your jigs and go make the most of it.

Spot 1: 42'43.250'S, 173'30.000'E This rock along the Canterbury coastline is home to some very nice Blue Cod and even holds a good amount of Trumpeter. Fishes well year round using a ledger rig with squid.



Spot 2: 36'48.506'S, 175'14.189'E Behind Rotoroa Island in the Hauraki Gulf this bank fishes very well for Snapper at this time of year. Using berley and salted Bonito is the best way to target them.

Spot 1: 37'09.518'S, 175'56.681'E Just north of Whangamata Harbour this rise is home to some very good Snapper and normally fishes well this time of year. Set up a good berley trail and stray line into it.



Spot 2: 35'50.165'S, 174'35.598'E Located at Bream Head this area has an array of foul ground. Fish all the little drop-offs and gutters. Great spot for Snapper, Gurnard and Tarakihi. you should even be able to pick up the occasional Kingfish there too.

Spot 1: 36'42.731'S, 174'59.516'E Behind Rakino Island this rock holds snapper all year round so take some berley out with you and stray-line into it. Make sure you put pressure on the fish early to prevent being busted off.



Spot 2: 41'36.530'S, 175'19.888'E These rocks along the southernmost point of the North Island just outside Palliser bay hold very nice Tarakihi, along with Blue Moki and Blue Cod.

Spot 1: 36'49.790'S, 174'58.256'E Setting up a drift across this spot off the south side of Waiheke has been known to account for good sized snapper and even the occasional Kingfish. Using slow jigs of softies would be the ideal method.



Spot 2: 36'19.415'S, 174'46.79'E Head north along Omaha beach until you reach the rock groins. From here swim or paddle out large smelly baits (butterflied bonito or anything bloody does well) about 50m from shore - it doesn't need to be too far. Sit back and relax on the beach until a big Bronzy comes and swallows your bait.
