The Reel
The Daiwa 24 Seaborg G1200M Electric Reel is engineered for serious kiwi anglers looking to prospect the deepest grounds for species like bluenose and kingfish. Its dual-speed function lets you quickly reposition drifts or retrieve rigs in high gear, then flick to low gear when a fish hits and let the drag do the heavy lifting off the bottom. The MEGATORQUE-G motor delivers serious power and durability and is backed by a 3-year/300km motor guarantee, while the Mega Twin system automatically switches between speed and power mode according to the load. With capacity for PE8/1000m or PE10/800m braid, plus Bluetooth compatibility for the optional JOG remote (sold separately), it's well suited to New Zealand's challenging deep-water environments.
The Rod
The Daiwa Tanacom 56BT Bent Butt Electric Deep Drop Rod is built on a composite graphite blank with a powerful but forgiving action that doesn't risk pulling hooks when a fish takes the final lunge. Seaguide heavy duty stainless steel frame guides are capable of withstanding the heavy loads of repeated drops all day long, and it's a handheld-specific rod, so you can save your strength for a longer day out on the water.
