Power assist for the deep drop
If you like your deep-drop gear simple and powerful, the Seapower 1200 / Tanacom 56BT PE6-10 set matches the Daiwa Seapower 1200 power assist electric reel with the 5ft 6in one-piece Tanacom 56BT bent butt rod. A purpose-built pairing that's sure to be a hit with deep-drop anglers in NZ.
The Reel
The long-awaited successor to the Tanacom Bull, the Daiwa 23 Seapower 1200 Deep Drop Power Assist Electric Reel is fitted with the same Megatorque motor as the popular Seaborg reels, outputting approximately 1.3 times the power of a conventional motor design. The motor now sits inside the spool for a more direct drive, with a redesigned planetary gearset featuring much thicker and stronger gears to deliver that power efficiently. An aluminium body, line counter, power lever and metal ball knob round out a reel that gives anglers more options than ever to explore the depths.
The Rod
The Daiwa Tanacom 56BT Bent Butt Electric Deep Drop Rod is built on a composite graphite blank with a powerful but forgiving action that doesn't risk pulling hooks when a fish takes the final lunge. Seaguide heavy duty stainless steel frame guides are capable of withstanding the heavy loads of repeated drops all day long, and it's a handheld-specific rod, so you can save your strength for a longer day out on the water.
