Heavy drag loads, handled
A step up in size for bigger fish, the Penn Authority 6500 IPX8 Battalion Solid Boat / Jigging Combo 6ft PE5 70lb 2pc puts the sealed Authority 6500 - with its manual bail trip and 485yds of 30lb braid capacity - on the 6ft, 2-piece PENN Battalion Solid spin jig rod rated PE3-5. Plenty of line, plenty of drag and a blank that lifts. Ready for the heaviest of drag loads.
The Reel
The PENN Authority 6500 IPX8 Spinning Reel sets a new standard for hardcore saltwater spinning - a refined premium reel that delivers smooth, powerful performance for the angler who demands a high-end reel in the toughest situations. The IPX8 sealed body and spool take long runs in heavy seas in their stride, ultra-durable CNC machined stainless steel main and pinion gears carry the load, and patented Dura-Drag eliminates hesitation even at extreme settings. A 12+1 premium stainless steel bearing system combines with Leveline slow oscillation for enduring smoothness behind all that trademark PENN power.
The Rod
The PENN Battalion Solid Spin Jig Rod is designed to give you perfect control over your jig so you can tame the toughest species. Solid Spiral Armour technology creates a solid carbon blank that is 100% stronger than conventional carbon blanks while keeping a thin diameter for great sensitivity, so you feel the smallest bites. Fuji Alconite guides keep it light and ergonomic high density EVA grips stay comfortable through long fights. This PE3-5 medium heavy model handles jigs to 300g.
