Lever drag control for jigging and heavy boat work
A compact, high speed jigging outfit, the Penn Squall 40 Lever Drag Heavy Duty Boat / Jigging Combo 5ft 50-80lb puts the narrow-spooled Squall II 40 lever drag reel on the 5ft, 1-piece PENN Allegiance IV 501MH overhead jigging rod rated PE4-6. The narrow spool loves braid and the 7.1:1 retrieve picks up line fast when a fish runs at you. Ultimate control when a big fish hits.
The Reel
The PENN Squall II 40 Narrow Lever Drag High Speed Overhead Reel delivers serious power in a lightweight, ergonomic package. Made from corrosion-resistant graphite, it is built for saltwater fishing without weighing you down, with stainless steel main and pinion gears and the PENN Dura-Drag system behind it. The narrow spool handles braid with ease, and the high speed lever drag lets you move quickly and precisely between strike, free spool and full drag.
The Rod
The PENN Allegiance IV 501MH Inshore Overhead Jigging Rod is engineered to take on NZ's toughest inshore species, with the enhanced fighting action you need for hard pulling fish. The lightweight high modulus 24T graphite blank lets you feel every subtle tap and makes jigging effortless, while durable Fuji O-Series guides with PENN Dura Guide frames keep line flowing smoothly in harsh saltwater. The ergonomic diamond X wrap shrink tube grip holds secure in all conditions.
