Generations of proven boat fishing power
An old-school heavyweight matched to a modern short boat rod, the Penn Senator 112H2 Shimano Vortex Overhead Boat Combo 5ft 5in 24kg puts the legendary Senator Special 112H2 star drag reel on the 5ft 5in, 1-piece Shimano Vortex rod rated 15-24kg. Short, strong and easy to work from a boat, it is set up for trolling, live baiting and bottom fishing. The rugged performance Kiwi fishos expect from PENN.
The Reel
Trusted by anglers for generations, the PENN Senator Special 112H2 High Speed Star Drag Overhead Reel delivers proven performance and durability for inshore, offshore and deep sea fishing. It is built for tough boat conditions with a machined and anodised aluminium spool, Bakelite side plates reinforced with stainless steel rings and a marine-grade bronze main gear. The optimised gear ratio balances torque for hauling fish with high speed retrieval, while HT-100 drag washers keep the drag smooth and consistent under heavy loads.
The Rod
The Shimano Vortex Overhead Rod blends versatility with rock-solid toughness. Its Power-Carbon blank is built to take the knocks and deliver impressive strength, while the integrated glass tip shows up every subtle bite right through to the fight. At 5ft 5in, 1 piece and rated 15-24kg, it is a serious short boat stick with Zirconia guides, EVA grips and a rubber gimbal.
