The rod's soft fibreglass tip lets a plastic waft naturally, the braid puts every touch straight into your hand, and the reel has the drag to finish the job. Just add a jighead.
The Reel
The PENN Battle II 4000 Spinning Reel offers attractive cosmetics, durable design and a silky smooth HT-100 drag - just a few of the many reasons so many anglers fish this reel. Full Metal Body, sideplate and rotor construction keeps precision gear alignment under severe punishment, and the Superline Spool has a rubber gasket that stops braid slipping, so no backing is needed. With its smooth drag, robust construction and clean finish it's a great reel for the money, and it will meet the demands of any weekend warrior.
The Rod
The Ocean Angler Spinning Soft Bait Rod is crafted from quality components and great for use with soft plastics. It's built on a nano-helix blank with a fibreglass end for a very bendy tip, and that tip is the key to success - it allows your lures to just waft around with no jerky movements, for the best possible action that snapper love. Full titanium guides give 100% rust resistance and weight reduction, with extra guides in the tip to stop the line touching the blank, and it's finished with a Fuji reel seat.
The Braid
The Daiwa UVF Saltiga Durasensor X8 +Si2 Braid is masterfully crafted in Japan to produce a silky smooth, super thin line that suits a host of fishing scenarios. This 8-weave braid uses Daiwa's muscle PE fibres for higher abrasion resistance and enhanced durability - 4x more abrasion resistant than normal braided lines - despite its extremely thin diameter. The Si2+ silicon coating impregnates the individual fibres rather than coating them, for a longer-lasting finish that aids hydrophobicity and line management, and the dark green (every 10m) and dark blue (every 15m) markings help with bite detection on slack line techniques. The 200m spool of chartreuse PE1.5 is the perfect size to fill a standard depth spin reel.
