A sealed workhorse softbait outfit, braid included
Ready to fish the moment it lands, the Penn Slammer 3500 Soft Bait Combo incl Braid 7ft 9in 2pc teams the IPX6 sealed PENN Slammer IV 3500 with the 7ft 9in, 2-piece PENN Slammer 791M softbait rod rated PE1-2, and throws in 300m of Berkley ProSpec X8 UltraCast braid in 30lb aqua camo. The parabolic RCB2 blank flexes grip to tip so you can work a plastic all day, and the 13.6kg Dura-Drag has plenty in reserve when a good snapper decides to go. A solid rod for softbaiting.
The Reel
Built for those who expect a reel that can handle the stress of hard-pulling fish, the PENN Slammer IV 3500 Spinning Reel is packed with more features than ever before. Building off PENN's proven IPX6 sealed body and spool, the drag system is redesigned to be better sealed and offer a wider range of usable drag, all while being bearing supported for extra smoothness. Add PENN's all-brass CNC gear technology, an 8+1 stainless steel bearing system and the Hydrophobic Line Roller Bearing, and the Slammer IV is the ultimate workhorse reel.
The Rod
Representing the next generation of high-performance sportfishing rods, the PENN Slammer 791M Spinning Soft Bait Rod is powerful, lightweight and durable. PENN's RCB2 blank pairs a rolled composite core with outer layers of longitudinal glass for a lightweight, thin, parabolic blank that flexes from grip to tip and distributes the load for extra durability, giving you the balance and recoil to work lures over reef structure or into suspended schools in both shallow and deep water. Tangle-free Fuji K frame guides with SiC inserts, a Fuji reel seat and contoured high-density EVA grips finish it off.
The Braid
If you hate tip wraps and wind knots, you're going to love the Berkley ProSpec X8 UltraCast Braid. It's made from eight tightly woven 100% PE fibres put through a cold bonding process, which adds body to the line so it lies flat on the spool and shoots through the guides without wrapping. It's super smooth and great for long distance casts, and the aqua camo colour is highly visible above the water so it's easy to detect a bite and see where you're casting. Great knot strength and superior abrasion resistance make it a proper performance fishing line.
