A lightweight setup for precise lure casting
The Shimano Sahara SH2500FJ Stream Flight XT Medium Light Spin Combo pairs a 2500-size spinning reel with an 8ft 2in two-piece rod rated for 3-6kg line and 5-19g lures. The Stream Flight XT features a 30/40T carbon blend blank with Shimano Diaflash butt construction, while the Sahara SH2500FJ offers smooth winding and a 5.0:1 gear ratio with 9kg maximum drag.
The lightweight setup is suited to freshwater lure fishing and light inshore applications, with the two-piece rod making transport and storage more convenient.
The Reel
The Shimano Sahara SH2500FJ Spinning Reel combines HAGANE Gear and X-Ship for smooth winding and efficient power transmission. G-Free Body shifts the centre of gravity closer to the rod, while SilentDrive reduces unnecessary noise and vibration for smoother reel operation. The Propulsion Line Management System supports controlled casting, and the screw-in handle provides a direct connection for winding.
The Rod
The Shimano Stream Flight XT Medium Freshwater Spin Rod is an 8ft 2in two-piece rod suited to freshwater fishing and light inshore applications. Its 30/40T carbon blend blank features Shimano Diaflash butt construction to reduce blank twist under load, while supporting casting accuracy and lifting power.
SeaGuide titanium guides with iridescent Zirconia inserts provide smooth line management with braid or monofilament, while the carbon fibre grips and integrated carbon reel seat keep the setup lightweight and responsive.
