Heavy-duty control for offshore jigging
The Shimano Torium 16PG Extraction Overhead Jigging Combo combines the Shimano Torium 16PG star-drag overhead reel with a 5ft 5in Extraction Overhead Jigging Rod rated PE6-8 for 200-400g jigs, plus 300m of 50lb Shimano Kairiki SX8 Multi-Colour Braid. The Torium 16PG offers a 4.6:1 gear ratio and 15kg maximum drag, while the Extraction rod features a T45 graphite blank and Fuji SiC K guides for responsive jig control.
The one-piece rod has a full-length EVA grip, while the 50lb eight-strand braid completes the setup for heavy offshore jigging.
The Reel
The Shimano Torium 16PG Overhead Reel features a HAGANE Body, S-ARB bearings and Super Free Spool for smooth operation and efficient power transmission. The Cross Carbon Drag provides a wide range of drag settings and smooth drag performance, while the S-Compact Body creates a compact profile for improved grip and leverage during a fight.
The 4.6:1 gear ratio and 86cm retrieve per crank provide winding power for working heavy jigs and managing line during offshore fishing.
The Rod
The Shimano Extraction Overhead Jigging Rod features a T45 graphite blank for a responsive feel, with Fuji SiC K guides for reliable line management during jigging. The full-length EVA grip provides a comfortable hold, while the one-piece construction provides a solid setup for heavier jigging.
The 5ft 5in rod is rated PE6-8 for 200-400g jigs, making it suited to heavy offshore jigging.
The Line
The Shimano Kairiki SX8 Multi-Colour Braid uses an eight-strand construction with a smooth finish designed to reduce friction through the rod guides. Its tight weave supports sensitivity and low stretch, while the multi-colour pattern helps track line length during deeper jigging applications.
