Heavy-duty game fishing for Kiwi waters
A 5ft 8in one-piece game outfit with a 24kg line rating, the Shimano TLD50 2-Speed X-Factor Roller Tip Game Combo pairs the lightweight Triton TLD-50 two-speed lever drag with an Okuma X-Factor II roller tip rod. It's built for the long, brutal fights.
The Reel
The Shimano Triton Lever Drag TLD-50 2-Speed Game Reel is tough. The two speed gear ratios are tough on fish, yet easy on you: high gear ratios make it easy to maintain tension on a charging gamefish, while the low gear ratios give you a mechanical advantage when pulling a stubborn fish from the depths. Changing gears is quick and easy since the dual drive and pinion gears are continuously meshed. The A-RB bearings are ten times more resistant to corrosion than ordinary stainless steel ball bearings, and the lightweight XT-7 frame is much more resistant to stress and torque than graphite, so you don't need to fight the weight of the reel as well.
The Rod
The Okuma X-Factor II Roller Tip Game Rod is designed specifically for Kiwi anglers, delivering the tough, durable performance and crisp action that the X-Factor series is famous for. Built to stand up to Shimano's offshore conditions and the power of serious pelagics, it ensures fast hook sets and effective fish fighting. Its 1-piece blank design gives maximum strength and sensitivity so you feel every head shake and keep control, while the roller tip minimises line friction under heavy load during those long fights with Kingfish, Tuna or even Marlin. At 5ft 8in, the rod provides excellent leverage and manoeuvrability when you're strapped into the chair or fighting stand-up. It also offers exceptional value, proving that premium performance doesn't have to come with a premium price tag.
