Level up your soft bait game
The Shimano Miravel C3000HG Divergex MH Soft Bait Spin Combo is your new go-to setup for everything from flicking soft baits for Snapper to targeting Trout in the backcountry. By pairing the ultra-responsive, CI4+ carbon-infused Miravel reel with a high-modulus 24T carbon Divergex Rod, you get a combo that is incredibly light in the hand yet packs the brute strength needed to turn the head of a trophy fish. Whether you're working light lures or battling hard-fighting trevally, this setup offers the precision sensitivity and raw durability that Kiwi fishos demand.
The Reel
Positioned as the ultra-accessible flagship of Shimano's Magnumlite (MGL) Series, the new Shimano Miravel C3000HG Spinning Reel is engineered for Kiwi anglers wanting a lightweight, super-responsive, and effortlessly smooth spinning reel without breaking the bank.
Built with a tough CI4+ carbon-infused body and enhanced by Hagane Gear and SilentDrive, it packs rigid power and silky-smooth retrieval that holds up against aggressive strikes. The 2026 upgrade elevates its performance even further—incorporating InfinityDrive for lighter winding under heavy load, an Anti-Twist Fin for flawless line management, a seamless One-Piece Bail, and X Protect water resistance to keep saltwater at bay. Whether you're flicking micro-jigs and softbaits for Snapper and Trevally, working egi lures for Squid off the rocks, or targeting Trout in the lakes and streams, the Miravel delivers the delicate sensitivity, casting distance, and brute durability needed to level up your catch rates.
The Rod
Shimano introduces the all-new Shimano Divergex Medium Heavy Soft Bait Spin Rod. This model utilizes 24T carbon blanks and features Seaguide zirconium guides and Shimano custom reel seats. Made with all the quality you expect from Shimano!
The Line
Shimano's new Shimano Kairiki SX8 Braid is an eight carrier Japanese Domestic Market (JDM) PE braid, its smooth finish means it creates less friction over rod guides when cast, and it slips through the water with reduced resistance and thrumming on the retrieve or when trolled.
Shimano Kairiki SX8 Braid is well behaved on the reel spool, with even lay and less propensity to throw off annoying wind knots. Sensitivity is brought into the manufacturing process by reducing overall stretch and having less elongation than competitors' brands. An exclusive process that the raw material undergoes before braiding enhances abrasion resistance, featuring Shimano's enhanced body treatment (S-EBT). The line is then braided with less friction, retaining the integrity of the material for fewer imperfections. This makes it a tough line for use in difficult terrain. Available in a range of breaking strains from 6 to 80lb on 150 metre spools at the lighter end, its neutral Mantis Green colour means it's every bit at home on a Trout stream, or down in the estuaries and offshore.
