The Reel
Shimano's state-of-the art HAGANE Gear technology lies at the heart of the redesigned Shimano 23 Sedona FJ 4000XG Spinning Reel. Incorporating HAGANE cold-forging technology into the Sedona FJ gives it a step up from other reels in its class and provides long-lasting smoothness and durability for assured resilience even after countless battles with your target species. The Sedona FJ series now features Shimano's SilentDrive technology to remove unnecessary noise and vibration while creating a quieter and smoother reeling experience. The enhanced spool design features Propulsion Line Management System for increased casting performance, while G-Free Body technology shifts the reel's centre of gravity closer to the rod for better balance and less fatigue during long days on the water.
HAGANE Body
The HAGANE Body is a metal reel body with high rigidity. The body rigidity and impact resistance virtually eliminate body flexing on the reel while fighting a fish. The result transforms the angler's actions directly into cranking power. It's efficiency through strength.
HAGANE Gear
The HAGANE Drive Gear is produced by Shimano's cold forging technology, without the need for additional machining. This delivers long lasting smoothness, strength, lightness and power at the very heart of the reel. Traditional diecast, machined gears are less durable under heavy loads.
Silent Drive
From the fundamental, whole body design to the most intricate parts of the drive train, including the drive gear, wormshaft, wormshaft pin and wormshaft gear, every piece has been carefully reviewed, and the smallest clearance gaps and wobbles have been eliminated to the highest tolerances.
G Free Body
G Free Body technology has been developed to shift the reel's centre of gravity closer to the rod. By moving the centre of gravity closer to your hand position, the G Free Body helps to reduce fatigue and enhance casting comfort.
Propulsion Line Management System
New Propulsion spool lip design provides longer casting distances than a standard spool lip while preventing backlashes and wind knots from forming. It also allows the line to flow off the spool in smaller loops during the cast which means less slap on the stripper guide.
The Rod
Shimano introduces the all-new Shimano Divergex Heavy Soft Bait Spin Rod. This model utilizes 24T carbon blanks and features Seaguide zirconium guides and Shimano custom reel seats. Made with all the quality you expect from Shimano!
The Line
Shimano's new Shimano Kairiki SX8 Braid is an eight carrier Japanese Domestic Market (JDM) PE braid, its smooth finish means it creates less friction over rod guides when cast, and it slips through the water with reduced resistance and thrumming on the retrieve or when trolled.
Shimano Kairiki SX8 Braid is well behaved on the reel spool, with even lay and less propensity to throw off annoying wind knots. Sensitivity is brought into the manufacturing process by reducing overall stretch and having less elongation than competitors' brands. An exclusive process that the raw material undergoes before braiding enhances abrasion resistance, featuring Shimano's enhanced body treatment (S-EBT). The line is then braided with less friction, retaining the integrity of the material for fewer imperfections. This makes it a tough line for use in difficult terrain. Its neutral Mantis Green colour means it's every bit at home on a Trout stream, or down in the estuaries and offshore.
