A compact setup for slow jigging
The Shimano Miravel 4000XG Descent Type J Spinning Slow Jig Combo pairs a lightweight 4000-size spinning reel with a 5ft 8in slow jigging rod rated for PE4 line and jigs up to 250g. The Descent Type J features a T24 solid carbon blank for strength during heavier jigging, while the Miravel 4000XG offers smooth winding, a fast 6.2:1 gear ratio and 11kg of maximum drag.
The one-piece setup is suited to working slow pitch jigs, octa jigs and other heavier jig presentations, with 150m of 20lb multi-colour Kairiki SX8 braid included.
The Reel
The Shimano Miravel 4000XG Spinning Reel combines a lightweight CI4+ body with HAGANE Gear, InfinityDrive and SilentDrive for smooth winding and efficient power transmission. The Magnumlite rotor supports a light, responsive feel, while Cross Carbon Drag provides smooth drag performance. X-Protect helps protect key areas from water penetration, and the Anti-Twist Fin supports controlled line management.
The Rod
The Shimano Descent Type J Spinning Slow Jig Rod features a T24 solid carbon blank with a thin profile for slow jigging applications. Sea Guide SS316 guides and a Shimano custom carbon / split grip EVA butt assembly complete the rod, providing a practical setup for working heavier jigs.
The Line
The Shimano Kairiki SX8 Multi-Colour Braid is an eight-strand braid with a smooth finish and tight weave for reduced friction through the guides and low stretch. Its multi-colour pattern provides changing colour sections along the line. This combo includes 150m of 20lb braid with a 0.20mm diameter.
