HAGANE gearing, Rigid Cast and the AR-C spool lip keep casts long and accurate even with thicker, stiffer line, while the APEX blank carries the payload out there. Great value for money in a genuinely high-end surf outfit.
The Reel
Strongly updated in specs, features and appearance, the Shimano 23 Speedmaster 14000 XSD Spinning Surf Reel brings top shelf Shimano features like HAGANE, SilentDrive and the G-Free body to keen surf anglers. The Super Slow 5 oscillation system with Aero Wrap crosslay technology guarantees perfect line lay and prevents individual turns jamming on the spool when you're fighting a strong fish, and the redesigned Parallel Body sits the spool in line with the rod to reduce line friction on the first guide. Rigid Cast technology cuts spool chatter and the AR-C spool lip reduces friction for longer, more accurate casts. The generous spool holds up to 550m of 0.35mm line, and spool reducers (3500, 10000) are included so you can fill it to the edge with less line.
