By pairing the rock-solid Spheros SWA reel with the precision-engineered Extraction rod, we've created a combo that lets you launch lures further and winch big fish out of the wash with confidence.
The Reel
The new Shimano Spheros SWA 14000XG Spinning Reel offers even more angler confidence than ever before. The features and IPX8 sealed body are due to the combination of X-Protect and X-Shield, whilst the Infinity Drive produces effortless handle rotation under heavy drags. The 14000XG model is designed for topwater fishing and packs 12kg of drag.
Infinity Drive
With the Infinity Drive, the pinion gear inner does not make contact with the main shaft, as high-sliding bushing supports the main shaft and sliding resistance is reduced. In addition to this, a special skidding coating on the main shaft helps to further reduce sliding resistance. Infinity Drive cuts handle rotation torque by about 30% in comparison to the conventional system, and makes the reel more powerful. This enables anglers to wind more aggressively, even under heavy load.
Shielded Anti-Reverse Bearings
These bearings have been through the same process as the A-RB bearings, but feature shields on both sides of the bearings that reduce the possibility of salt or sand inhibiting the bearings' rotation.
HAGANE Body
Hagane Body means this reel has a high rigidity and zero twist. The body stiffness and impact resistance virtually eliminate body flexing. The result transforms the anglers' actions directly into cranking power. It's efficiency through strength.
HAGANE Gear
Hagane Gear is at the very heart of the reel and creates strength and durability. The entire cold-forging process is calculated in minute detail by special 3D design and the result is precision durability.
X-Protect
By combining water repellent coating and specially designed, water channelling labyrinth construction, X-Protect provides high-level water resistance without sacrificing light gear and rotor rotation.
X-Ship
By supporting the pinion gear on both ends with the S-ARB bearings and integrating bigger drive gear, Shimano increased the gearing efficiency and power. This results in a fishing reel with ultra-light handle rotation; less effort and power giving a perfect rotation even under heavy loads.
AR-C Spool Management System
Through tens of thousands of casting tests and computer simulations it has been determined that this new AR-C spool lip design provides longer casting distances than a standard spool lip design while preventing backlashes and wind knots from forming. It also allows the line to flow off the spool in smaller loops during the cast, which means less slap on the stripper guide. This means longer casts with less friction.

Designed to elevate your angling experience, the Shimano Extraction Topwater Spinning Rod is engineered with cutting-edge technology and premium materials. At the heart of the Extraction rod series is the revolutionary T454 high modulus carbon graphite blank construction and Fuji K-series tangle-free guides with SIC inserts strategically designed to reduce tangles and improve casting performance. And what's more, it's equipped with silicon carbide inserts that minimise friction and ensure a smooth and effortless line flow, allowing anglers to cast their lures with precision and accuracy.
The Line
Smooth, supple and sensitive. These keywords sum up the new Shimano Kairiki SX8 Braid. An eight carrier Japanese Domestic Market (JDM) PE braid, its smooth finish means it creates less friction over rod guides when cast and it slips through the water with reduced resistance and thrumming on the retrieve or when trolled. Kairiki SX8 is well behaved on the reel spool, with even lay and less propensity to throw off annoying wind knots. Sensitivity is brought into the manufacturing process by reducing overall stretch and having less elongation than competitors' brands. An exclusive process that the raw material undergoes before braiding enhances abrasion resistance, featuring Shimano's enhanced body treatment (S-EBT).
