The Reel
The Okuma Surf 8k Surf Spinning Reel not only still has Okuma's patent designs such as the rotor brake system, rotor with brush guards and quick-set anti-reverse system, but has even more upgraded functions and components. Its worm shaft transmission system and super slow oscillation system make line winding straighter and tighter as well as reducing the friction created when casting. The tapered spool creates a longer casting distance, making it perfect for long casting over wide open water.

Cyclonic Flow Rotor Technology (CFR)
Cyclonic Flow Rotor (CFR) was designed to create "cyclonic" airflow, which significantly increases air around the rotor, beneath and around the spool, with every turn of the handle. This thoroughly tested design allows for a much faster drying time if the reel becomes wet, minimising corrosion and extending longevity of the reel.

Slow Oscillation System
Makes the line wind more straight and tight, and reduce the friction when casting. The Upper Long Stroke Spool measures 45mm.

Worm Shaft Transmission System
Featuring the upgraded worm shaft transmission system which strengthens the construction and a more rigid spool allows for straighter, tighter and smoother line winding.

Fast Progressive Drag
This fast progressive drag allows a setting from low drag power to almost full drag power with a rotation of less than than 360°.
