The Reel
With a stealth gunmetal grey body, the new Shimano Baitrunner DL 4000 FB Spinning Reel offers a host of features unique to the DL family of reels. Three shielded stainless steel ball bearings produce effortless performance, whilst the Power Roller helps to eliminate line twist with fine mono and braid. The 4000 model is equally at home targeting predatory species with deadbaits or when feeder fishing for hard fighting fish. Utilising Shimano’s world renowned technology such as AR-C spool and Varispeed oscillation system the Baitrunner DL offers optimum efficiency with huge amounts of power in reserve.

The Baitrunner DL has become very popular with match fishos for feeder fishing where the use of the Baitrunner freespool system is a big advantage as when engaged it eliminates crack offs on the take and allows the angler to get into position before engaging the drag.

AR-C Spool Management System
Through tens of thousands of casting tests and computer simulations it has been determined that this new AR-C spool lip design provides longer casting distances than a standard spool lip design while preventing backlashes and wind knots from forming. It also allows the line to flow off the spool in smaller loops during the cast, which means less slap on the stripper guide. This means longer casts with less friction.

Varispeed
Normal oscillation systems use a constant rotation of the oscillation gear that, when translated to the cam, provides an inconsistent spool speed. This results in line lay that stacks at either end of the spool. By using an oval oscillation gear, Shimano is able to alter the speed of the oscillation cam to provide a consistent spool speed. This results in an even line lay that provides excellent castability and manageability.

The Rod
The Shimano Catana Soft Bait Spin Rod is every bit as sharp as the sword it's named after. This rod is built with a tough graphite blank, Hardloy guides, split EVA butt assembly plus graphite reel seat. This rod is perfect if for flicking soft plastic lures for Snapper.
