The Reel
The newest addition to the Emeraldas family, the light tackle Daiwa 20 Emeraldas X LT 2500S-H Spinning Reel offers the distinctive style you've come to love from the Emeraldas family, with the features needed to excel at Squid fishing of all kinds. The heart of any dedicated Squid reel is the drag and Daiwa's finesse ATD drag system is the epitome of them all. A finely adjustable drag setting will keep the barbs into even the timidest hook sets on a hard-running Squid.
The full gamut of LT Concept design principles has been built into this new reel including Tough Digigear design and the more compact LT body design. Truly lightweight and fully functional, the Emeraldas X LT isn't just a Squid reel, excelling at any application where light line and finesse drag capability is important.
The Rod
Get ready to feel every subtle twitch and strike. Designed for precision and performance, the Daiwa TD Tierra Squid / Canal Spinning Rod is built on an HVF Nanoplus carbon blank. This rod is incredibly light, sensitive and responsive – perfect for detecting the gentlest takes from Squid or wary estuary fish. Daiwa's X45 technology and Braiding X work together to eliminate blank twist and boost hoop strength, giving you pinpoint casting accuracy and formidable power when you're hooked up.
Fishing in our tough conditions demands durability and this rod delivers. It features Fuji stainless steel guides with Fuji Fazlite rings for excellent corrosion resistance and smooth line flow, even with braid. The full grip and ergonomic Daiwa reel seat offer secure, comfortable handling during those longer sessions. At 8ft 6in, with an Ultra Light action and a 2-5kg line rating, this versatile 2-piece rod is your go-to for casting soft baits in the canals or micro soft baiting in freshwater, and also ideal for casting Squid jigs for Squid.
The Braid
The Daiwa UVF Saltiga Durasensor X8 +Si2 Braid is masterfully crafted in Japan using the latest Daiwa technology to produce a silky smooth, super thin line that’s perfect for a host of fishing scenarios. This 8-weave braided line features Daiwa’s muscle PE fibres for higher abrasion resistance and enhanced durability. Despite its extremely thin diameter, the Saltiga Durasensor X8 is super tough with fibres 4x more abrasion resistant than normal braided lines.
Not all braid coatings are created equal. The latest Daiwa Si2+ silicon coating impregnates the individual fibres rather than coating them for a longer-lasting finish which aids in hydrophobicity and line management.
The Daiwa UVF Saltiga Durasensor X8 +Si2 Braid has been tweaked and perfected to suit a wide range of fishing applications with lighter weight offerings in distinct chartreuse colour. The dark green (every 10m) and dark blue (every 15m) markings aid in bite detection on slack line techniques. These lighter weight sizes from PE #0.6 to #2.0 are available in 200m spools. They’re the perfect size to either topshot 2 smaller spinning reels or to completely fill a standard depth Daiwa spin reel.
