The Shimano Tyrnos 30 Vortex Game Combo is the perfect setup if you're looking for a fast, light, strong and durable rod and reel combo for big game fishing. This set is also great for deep sea fishing and live baiting.
The Reel
The Shimano Tyrnos 30 Overhead Reel features a ratcheting lever drag to eliminate any lever movement caused by boat vibration and a loud clicker with enough tension to hold large baits. Additional features include oversized gears to give you more power while maintaining a high-speed 5.0:1 gear ratio. An extra-long handle shank with an oversized ergonomic rubber power grip makes it easy for you to fight the fish. Shimano Tyrnos reels are constructed with die-cast aluminium frames and graphite side plates to reduce weight while maintaining strength and durability.
Perfect if you want to troll for Tuna or drop livies down to big Kingfish. With a large line capacity Hapuka, Bass and Bluenose are a real option with the reel. If you’re looking for a heavy duty reel to cover several different bases from trolling to deep sea fishing then the Shimano Tyrnos 30 is the reel for you.

The Shimano Vortex Overhead Rod is a dynamic and versatile rod that has been designed to fit directly in to the kiwi market. It features a Power-Carbon blank specially designed to take the knocks, an integrated glass tip so as to retain sensitivity from the bite to the fight and also enhance overall performance without compromise. Great for trolling or deep dropping. The Shimano Vortex Overhead Rod has been designed by kiwi fishos for kiwi fishos - it's as simple as that!
