When your boat or crew in in distress, the Comet Light and Smoke Signal Man Overboard Lifebuoy Marker can be deployed to mark your position for rescue operations. It produces a dense orange smoke for 15 minutes. Its two self contained, inversion switched LED lights burn at 2 candela for 15 hours minimum. This means your position is marked in various conditions, regardless if it's day or night.
Ships are required to carry two of these Comet Light and Smoke Signal Man Overboard Lifebuoy Markers , one mounted on each bridge. Mount the marker using the supplied brackets and ensure it's attached by line to a 4kg lifebuoy. This ready to fire position means you can automatically deploy the market by releasing the locking pin, or activate it manually by throwing the lifebuoy overboard. The Comet Light and Smoke Signal Man Overboard Lifebuoy Marker has been tested to survive 100m drops into the water so it's ideal for use on ships or rigs with high freeboard.
