The Reel
The Daiwa Seaborg 500MJ Electric Reel is the culmination of Daiwa's electric reel design and innovation. Featuring a new custom motor with approximately 1.3x more power than previous models, the Seaborg has unparalleled smoothness and speed. An original two gear ratio system allows effortless switching between mega-power and mega-speed modes at the push of a button, while a massive ATD drag system, cooled by an aluminium radiator, is capable of putting out a massive 33kg of drag pressure. Magsealed bearings minimise saltwater intrusion to improve long-term durability and smoothness. The Seaborg sets a new standard as the ultimate electric reel.
Jog Power Lever
The new Seaborg Jog Power Lever system is designed for standup fishing techniques. With the standing fight concept in mind, the Jog Lever will allow an immediate response to wind the line. When standing with the rod/reel outfit in your right hand the lever can be controlled with your left thumb. Alternatively when using your left hand to hold the outfit, pinching the lever with your right hand will allow you to control the machine easily. This easy to use function will allow you to continuously lead the fight against your target.
Dot Screen Display
Out in the field it can be tough to read anything on an LCD screen due to sun glare or sunglasses. The Seaborg's LCD screen displays large letters/numbers and uses a dotted LCD screen to make it easier for anglers to see the display. Line input procedures are selectable in Japanese or English languages. Just let the D-Vec letters on the start screen lead you to the exciting world of Dendoh reel fishing.
The Rod
Deep-sea fishing is an incredibly rewarding way of catching a variety of species and is often the ultimate endurance test for heavy-duty tackle. The Daiwa Seapower Rod features a specific trigger grip designed for compact jigging reels and the newer generation electric reels from 300 size down. It sports a blank constructed from Daiwa's GLATECH material, a combination of a carbon core wrapped perpendicular to the rod blank and longitudinal single axis fibreglass material, which gives Seapower the desired soft and shock-absorbing action with low down power for turning heads on big fish.
X45X Full Shield is also utilised to further enhance the torsional stiffness, a key component in Seapower rods, which further reduces blank twist and eliminates power loss during the fight. Fuji Silicon Carbide SiC anti-tangle guides in a striking gold finish really set this rod out from the crowd. A custom Daiwa finger foregrip has been designed to achieve the perfect hold during longer fights.
