When you need rescuing at sea, the GME SR500 AIS Search and Rescue Transponder assists by rapidly providing your location. This self-contained, waterproof beacon transmits an Automatic Identification System (AIS) distress signal that can be detected by nearby vessels. When received, the transmission is translated and displayed on a chart plotter. This allows potential rescuers to home in on your exact position.
The distress message of the GME SR500 AIS Search and Rescue Transponder is transmitted every minute for a minimum period of 96 hours. A high intensity LED light also flashes Morse Code "SOS" code every 30 seconds. Have the GME SR500 AIS Search and Rescue Transponder on board to ensure rescuers can find you as quickly as possible.
