The Reel
An overhead reel for jigging, bring the latest addition to the OCEA JIGGER series - the Shimano 20 Ocea Jigger 4000 Overhead Reel, on your deep sea and off-island expeditions. In addition to being able to hold up to 1200m long of a PE 3.0 rated line, the outer diameter of the palming side of the reel has been made smaller and this makes the reel much more comfortable to hold. The 4000 size retains the solid construction and winding/cranking performance of the JIGGER series. The drag force can be more precisely adjusted with the large star drag on the reel.
The Rod
The new Shimano 25 Grappler Type J B538 OH Jig Rod combines Spiral X and Hi-Power X blank technologies to provide the next evolutionary step in both jig control and fish fighting strength. All major performance parameters have been optimised to reduce angler fatigue, while maximising your chances of a successful encounter with even the toughest fish in the sea.
The amazing lure control offered by this exceptional jig rod is also no accident — it results from hundreds of hours of exhaustive analysis of blank action, loading and response, all aimed at putting fish-catching power in the hands of serious fishos.
Spiral X
Through its exclusive lightweight structure, Shimano's patented Spiral X construction enhances catching power for anglers. Spiral X construction consists of three layers: a middle layer of vertical fibres as well as inner and outer layers, both comprised of carbon tape that tightly winds the blank diagonally in opposite directions. By using this carbon tape in place of a conventional horizontal fibre sheet, Spiral X achieves enhanced compression rigidity and increased torsional rigidity without adding extra weight. This in turn facilitates instant power transmission for precise casting and fish fighting.
Hi-Power X
Hi-Power X construction uses diagonally-wrapped carbon tape to form an array of "X" shapes on the rod blank's outermost layer. The width of the tape, its winding angle and the part of the rod being wrapped are fine-tuned according to the target fish species. This manufacturing process allows Shimano to adjust these wraps during construction for precise actions, enhanced overall strength and added twist resistance. In short, Hi-Power X construction delivers sharp and crisp rod control for the angler.
CI4+
CI4 is a Shimano original material reinforced with carbon fibre that is lighter and has a higher strength than conventional resin material. CI4+ is an advanced version of the original CI4 material and is 2.5x more rigid than its predecessor. While improving lightness and rigidity, reel bodies, rotors and reel seats built with CI4+ are further reduced in size and weight.
