The Dutch-made DHR Anchor Oil Lamp can be used both indoors and outdoors. The guide eyelets make it hoist-able too. It's made of solid brass with a polished and lacquered finish to ensure a long-lasting shine. The glass that protects the burner and font is a Fresnel lens, similar to the type used in lighthouses worldwide. This lens amplifies the flame from the oil lamp so that the light appears much brighter than its actual source.
The manufacturer of this Anchor Lamp, Den Haan Rotterdam (DHR), was founded in Rotterdam, Holland, in 1922. It began as a manufacturer of navigation and interior lighting for inland and seagoing vessels. All lamps, many of them replicas of old models, are handmade to commercial ship standards.
