The Reel
The benchmark for small 2-speed lever drag performance, the all-new Shimano 23 Talica 12 IIA 2-Speed Jigging Reel raises the bar as Shimano's flagship reel again with ultra-smooth reeling and powerful drag performance to conquer long battles with trophy game fish. The addition of Shimano's innovative Infinity Drive technology leverages a new drag design to increase drag force while reducing side-load pressure to produce up to 30% lighter rotation during tough battles and high-drag situations.
The new generation of Talica now features X-Protect technology to boast high-level water resistance in vital areas to improve durability without sacrificing a light gear feel. The included Light-Line Drag Cam provides added versatility with a lower drag curve for anglers fishing monofilament or lighter fluorocarbon leaders. It also features a HAGANE Body made of highly-rigid aluminium to reduce the reel's overall weight while eliminating reel body flex, warp and distortion to allow for smooth reeling with minimal power loss during challenging battles. Improving on its S-Compact body design, the palming side plate is an additional 6% smaller than the previous generation.

The new Shimano 25 Grappler Type J B538 OH Jig Rod combines Spiral X and Hi-Power X blank technologies to provide the next evolutionary step in both jig control and fish fighting strength. Spiral X
Through its exclusive lightweight structure, Shimano's patented Spiral X construction enhances catching power for anglers. Spiral X construction consists of three layers: a middle layer of vertical fibres as well as inner and outer layers, both comprised of carbon tape that tightly winds the blank diagonally in opposite directions. By using this carbon tape in place of a conventional horizontal fibre sheet, Spiral X achieves enhanced compression rigidity and increased torsional rigidity without adding extra weight. This in turn facilitates instant power transmission for precise casting and fish fighting.
Hi-Power X
Hi-Power X construction uses diagonally-wrapped carbon tape to form an array of "X" shapes on the rod blank's outermost layer. The width of the tape, its winding angle and the part of the rod being wrapped are fine-tuned according to the target fish species. This manufacturing process allows Shimano to adjust these wraps during construction for precise actions, enhanced overall strength and added twist resistance. In short, Hi-Power X construction delivers sharp and crisp rod control for the angler.
CI4+
CI4 is a Shimano original material reinforced with carbon fibre that is lighter and has a higher strength than conventional resin material. CI4+ is an advanced version of the original CI4 material and is 2.5x more rigid than its predecessor. While improving lightness and rigidity, reel bodies, rotors and reel seats built with CI4+ are further reduced in size and weight.
