The Reel
The lightweight Shimano Torium 20PG Overhead Reel is a solidly-built star-drag saltwater reel perfect for live bait or bottom-fishing applications. It's packed with features like Super Stopper, Cross Carbon Drag, Anti-Rust Bearings, High Efficiency Gearing and Hagane Body. When it comes to being packed with all the right stuff, the Torium has it where it counts.
Hagane Body
The Hagane Body is produced from high rigidity aluminium or magnesium. This creates stiffness and impact resistance, while at the same time eliminating flexing of the body. The result is a rock solid housing and support for the moving intrernal gearing and creates greater efficiency throughout the reel.
S-ARB
Shimano S-ARB bearings are high-corrosion-resistant ARB ball bearings with an extra shield for improved protection against sand, salt or dust.
Super Free Spool
The Super Free bearing-supported pinion gear system (SF) was designed to eliminate friction on the spool shaft during the cast. In standard baitcasting reels, when the clutch bar is pressed down, the pinion gear is freed and can actually drag on the spool shaft, creating friction and limiting the length of the cast. With SF, the pinion gear is supported by a ball bearing, and when the clutch is disengaged the pinion gear and the spool shaft are kept in precise alignment. This creates zero friction on the spool shaft for increase freespool.
Cross Carbon Drag
This carbon drag material provides a wider range of drag settings, along with the smoothes Shimano drag performance ever.
S Compact Body
This is a compact body designed to reduce weight, and allow for better grip and leverage while fighting fish.
