Electric power for extreme deep-water fishing
The Shimano Plays 4000A Deep Monster Deep Drop Combo combines a Plays 4000A electric reel with a 6ft two-piece bent butt rod rated for 30-50lb line. The setup is purpose-built for deep-water fishing and is suited to targeting species such as bluenose, hapuka and swordfish with electric reel assistance.
The solid glass Deep Monster blank provides lifting power and a forgiving action under heavy sinker weights and sustained drag pressure, while the combo includes 650yd of 50lb PowerPro Hi-Vis Yellow braid.
The Reel
The Shimano Plays 4000A Electric Reel features a rigid HAGANE Body and MUTEKI motor for increased cranking power and winding speed. Raku Raku Fixed Speed Mode maintains a constant winding speed according to the load applied to the reel, while the Cross Carbon Drag provides smooth drag performance.
The thumb rest clutch and quick-return clutch support reel handling, while Instant Stop allows the angler to stop the retrieve at the press of a button.
The Rod
The Shimano Deep Monster Bent Butt Electric Deep Drop Rod is a 6ft two-piece rod designed for extreme deep-water fishing with electric reels. Its solid glass blank provides lifting power, durability and a forgiving action under heavy sinker weights and sustained drag pressures.
Premium ALPS HXN guides provide strength and corrosion resistance, while the ALPS HB tip supports smooth line control under heavy loads. The Shimano Custom EVA bent butt provides leverage during deep-drop fishing, and the rod is rated for 30-50lb line.
The Line
The PowerPro High-Visibility Yellow Braid is made from braided Spectra fibre and features Enhanced Body Technology for a rounder, smoother profile. This combo includes 650yd of 50lb Hi-Vis Yellow braid in a 0.36mm diameter.
