The Reel
The new Shimano SpeedMaster LD II 16 2-Speed Overhead Reel has all the capabilities of the Talica II 2-Speed reel, without the premium price tag. The Speed Master LD II looks and feels tough and is built as a powerhouse reel, capable of tacking many tasks. If you need a reel that's capable of dropping livebaits for big Kings, can swing a jig and then switch to ledger rig fishing. Then the Speed Master LD could be what you're looking for.
2 Speed Gearing
This mechanism is designed so that gear changes are quick and easy, even when fighting a fish. The low gear ratio used for high-power retrieves is selected by pushing the button on the base of the handle. Return to the high-speed ratio by sliding the release button along the handle shank. By using two sets of gears, the drive and pinion gears are always engaged. There is no gear meshing during the shift.
Anti-Rust Bearings
A-RB are made of stainless steel that has been through the A-RB process. At least 10 times more corrosion resistant than standard stainless steel ball bearings. Easy maintenance no-shield design allows for easy flushing of debris and easy lubrication. Increased bearing speed-no shield design and lighter viscosity lubrication reduce friction and allow the bearing to spin faster and longer.
HAGANE Body
Hagane Body means this reel has a high rigidity and zero twist. The body stiffness and impact resistance virtually eliminates body flexing. The result transforms the anglers actions directly into cranking power. It's efficiency through strength.
The Rod
The Shimano Vortex Overhead Rod is a dynamic and versatile rod that has been designed to fit directly in to the Kiwi market. It features a Power-Carbon blank specially designed to take the knocks, an integrated glass tip so as to retain sensitivity from the bite to the fight and also enhance overall performance without compromise. Great for trolling or deep dropping. The Shimano Vortex Overhead Rod has been designed by Kiwi fishos for Kiwi fishos - it's as simple as that!
