The Reel
The Shimano Stradic FL 2500 HG Spinning Reel is a great all-around size for estuary and river fishing that suits a braided line from 6lb to 10lb depending on the target species. Weighing 225g, the Stradic FL 2500 HG matches perfectly with a 2-4kg, 2-5kg and 3-5kg responsive graphite rod. Featuring 6+1 bearings, 6.0:1 gear ratio and a smooth felt drag system with 9kg of power.
Micro Module II
State-of-the-art, gear tooth surface design and MicroModule Gear II, are further advanced through Shimano's exclusive manufacturing technology. The surfaces of the drive gear and pinion gear have been analysed and updated from the ground up in pursuit of perfection.
Silent Drive
From the fundamental, whole body design to the most intricate parts of the drive train, including the drive gear, wormshaft, wormshaft pin and wormshaft gear, every piece has been carefully reviewed, and the smallest clearance gaps and wobbles have been eliminated to the highest tolerances.
New HAGANE Gear
Hagane Gear has become the cornerstone of many of Shimano’s finest spinning reels. With Shimano’s own precision cold forging technology, the new Stradic, has improved gear durability and is equipped with a newly designed Hagane gear with equivalent strength to the upper model.
One Piece Bail
The one piece bail wire has no gap for the line to snag on during normal operation. Made of stainless steel, it reduces friction and allows the line to get into the line roller quicker.
X-Protect
By combining our water repellent coating and our specially designed, water channeling labyrinth construction, X-Protect provides high-level water resistance without sacrificing light gear and rotor rotation.
Long Stroke Spool
The long stroke spool design improves casting performance when compared to the previous model due to the improved line flow from the spool.

Designed to meet the demands of Kiwi anglers, the Shimano Salty Advance Tairaba B69MH-S Baitcaster Rod utilises Shimano's proprietary TAFTEC technology in the blank, giving it excellent sensitivity and feel, whist also being robust. It features Fuji stainless K guides and SiC tip.
TAFTEC
Shimano TAFTEC tips utilise a pre-stretched T-3500 directional yarn fibre with low resin saturation. This directional alignment of the fibres results in much less damage during the grinding process and results in a spineless construction which tests have shown to be much stronger, lower in weight, faster in action and more sensitive. TAFTEC tips are used where sensitivity is an important requirement of the rod.
Softube Top
Shimano Softube Top provides the sensitivity of an ultra-fine solid carbon tip with the lightness of a hollow construction. Softube Top construction can be found on models where sensitivity and finesse are both important requirements.
