The Reel
The new Shimano Torium 14A HG Overhead Reel is designed to provide a compact, rigid and powerful saltwater reel with excellent castability and durability that you can expect in a Shimano reel. It features a compact design using S-Concept body that feels one size smaller in your hand and offers durability. The B side sideplate (A side has the handle, drag adjustment and cast control knob) is all one piece, contributing to both rigidity and in-the-hand palming comfort.
E.I. Surface Treatment
E.I. improves corrosion resistance. With E.I. a second layer of surface treatment is added after the anodising process. This treatment is forced to any micro sized surface impurities, giving salt no place to adgere and no chance for corrosion to start.
Cross Carbon Drag
Cross Carbon Drag gives the reel smoother and more durable drag performance. The ideal material for the high drag pressure setting, with smoothness and consistent performance.
HEG
HEG consists of not only the gears, but also the frame, setplate and handle side-sideplate. First the size of the drive gear and pinion gear are increased to offer increased leverage and power.
Anti-Rust Bearings
A-RB are made of stainless steel that has been through the A-RB process. At least 10 times more corrosion resistant than standard stainless steel ball bearings. Easy maintenance no-shield design allows for easy flushing of debris and easy lubrication. Increased bearing speed-no shield design and lighter viscosity lubrication reduce friction and allow the bearing to spin faster and longer.
Super Stopper II
Super Stopper II anti-reverse uses a one-way bearing that eliminates backplay. This provides the angler with instant hooksetting power. In some reels, the Super Stopper II can be turned off to allow backreeling for special techniques and situations.
Dartainium Drag
Dartainium is a special drag material that provides a wide range of drag settings and the smoothest performance on the market.
