The Reel
The new and improved Shimano Big Baitrunner XTB Long Cast Surfcasting Reel is back and fully stocked with the best of Shimano technologies. It features a large AR-C spool with slow oscillation in combination with the Aero Wrap II line lay system. This ensures maximum distance casting performance. The X-Ship system is also included to ensure a smooth power transfer and stability or the gears thanks to the two point support of the pinion gear by ball bearings.
All 4 ball bearings are shielded A-RB for increased durability and the gears are redesigned to minimise friction and increase power transfer from the long aluminium handle to the rotor. This delivers more torque and winding power making fish playing easier and delivers more control. The big size, with its perfect casting performance is perfect for beach casting where distance is everything.

These spools provide strength and durability over diecast aluminium or graphite spools.
Aero Wrap II Oscillation System
Aero Wrap II is a worm gear oscillation system with a specially designed pitch to create optimal oscillation speeds for the Propulsion Spool Lip design. It provides uniform line lay and winding shape to prevent loss of energy during the cast while providing longer casts than other oscillation systems. So, casting distance increases with less effort required.
Shielded Anti-Reverse Bearings
These bearings have been through the same process as the A-RB bearings, but feature shields on both sides of the bearings that reduce the possibility of salt or sand inhibiting the bearings' rotation.

Spiral X + Hi-Power X
The Hi-Power X construction suppresses rod torsion from the start of casting and improves directionality. The Spiral X construction is more effective against torsion as the rod is subjected to higher loads and bends more, and by suppressing rod torsion and vibration, your casting power is fully utilised.
Evolutionary new generation fast action mild tuning
By making the new generation fast action even faster, the rod bending time is shortened, so your power can be transmitted to the rod without excess. Furthermore, the synergistic effect of the Spiral X structure, which suppresses power loss, and the high rebound, increases casting distance. The rod is mildly tuned to bend slightly toward the body, smoothly transmitting power from the tip when a load is applied. Instead of casting with force, the rod flexes to enable casting farther with ease, and the rod flexes to create a split-second pause for better directional control.
Shimano's original guide setting (with a swinging K-guide)
A floating K-guide is used for swinging, and to further increase casting distance, a WFMSG (W Caspin) stainless steel frame SiC guide with a high foot is used for the butt guide. By making the former guide foot-high, the resistance to line discharge caused by contact with the guide and rod body is minimised, ensuring smooth line discharge. This effect is especially effective when using thicker line.
