Heavy tackle for deep-drop fishing
The Shimano Tiagra 80 WA Status BW Bent Butt Roller Tip Combo combines a Tiagra 80 WA two-speed game reel with a 5ft 6in two-piece deep-drop rod rated for 24-37kg line. The setup is suited to deep-drop fishing with electric reels and heavy offshore tackle.
The bent butt configuration is suited to electric reel setups, while the roller tip supports smooth line flow when fishing braided line.
The Reel
The Shimano Tiagra 80 WA Game Reel features a one-piece machine-cut aluminium frame, heavy-duty stainless steel two-speed gearing and A-RB bearings for increased corrosion resistance. The two-speed mechanism provides high and low gear ratios for adjusting retrieve speed and winding power during a fight, while the click-stop drag quadrant allows precise drag adjustments. The cold-forged aluminium spool and counterbalanced Septon power handle complete the reel.
The Rod
The Shimano Status Bluewater Bent Butt Electric Deep Drop Rod features a Power-Carbon composite blank constructed from E-Glass and graphite, providing lifting strength and a comfortable bending curve under load. Heavy-duty Seaguides and a roller tip support smooth line flow when fishing braided line, while the Pac Bay bent butt provides a solid base for electric reel setups.
The 5ft 6in two-piece rod is rated for 24-37kg line and is purpose-built for electric reel deep-drop fishing.
