Heavy tackle for deep-drop fishing
The Shimano Tiagra 80 WA Status Bluewater Bent Butt Electric Deep Drop Combo combines a Tiagra 80 WA two-speed game reel with a 5ft 6in two-piece deep-drop rod rated for 24-37kg line. The setup is suited to deep-drop fishing with electric reels and heavy offshore tackle.
The bent butt configuration is suited to electric reel setups, while the roller tip supports smooth line flow when fishing braided line.
The Reel
The Shimano Tiagra 80 WA Game Reel features a one-piece machine-cut aluminium frame, heavy-duty stainless steel two-speed gearing and A-RB bearings for increased corrosion resistance.
The two-speed mechanism provides high and low gear ratios for adjusting retrieve speed and winding power during a fight, while the click-stop drag quadrant allows precise drag adjustments. The cold-forged aluminium spool and counterbalanced Septon power handle complete the reel.
The Rod
The Shimano Status Bluewater Bent Butt Electric Deep Drop Rod features a full E-Glass blank with high hoop strength and a powerful, progressive action for targeting large pelagic and deep-water species. Heavy-duty Seaguide guides and an ALPS roller tip provide dependable performance and smooth line control under heavy drag loads.
Finished with a Shimano Channel Lock alloy bent butt, this 5ft 6in, 2-piece rod has a 24-37kg line rating and is suited to deep dropping with electric reels, as well as trolling and live baiting with high-capacity game reels.
